The studio

Thoughtful architecture.
Practical understanding.

MURO Design Studio brings residential design, architectural technology, and visualization into a shared process. Founded by Rodrigo Molina and Mark Rapsing.

Why MURO exists

To bridge the idea
and the reality.

Beautiful, functional, efficient, and buildable should reinforce each other.

MURO grew from Rod and Mark’s shared experience in residential design, architectural technology, BIM, detailing, and visualization. We founded the studio to bring those disciplines closer together.

We believe residential design should respond to the people who live in a home and the people who build it. The architectural idea becomes stronger when real construction is part of the conversation from the start.

We collaborate with clients and project teams across the U.S. and Canada.

Our design philosophy

The Purposeful
Gesture.

One decision. Several good reasons.

We look for design moves that resolve several things at once: a clear architectural expression, a logical structure, practical drainage, material efficiency, or a better everyday experience.

Purposeful simplicity does not mean removing character. It means removing unnecessary complexity, so proportion, light, materials, and the important gestures can have more impact.

Scandinavian ideas of restraint, material honesty, and practical planning inform this approach. The aim is a home that makes sense as a whole.

Our working principles

Purpose in the process.

01

Design with the build in mind

Consider materials, structure, planning, and construction as part of the architectural idea.

02

Make decisions visible

Use drawings, models, and visualization to help people understand the same design.

03

Work as a project team

Collaborate with builders, engineers, and locally licensed professionals where required.

The name

MURO.
A foundation
for good ideas.

Our name comes from the Spanish word for wall, rooted in the Latin murus. The offset wall-plane symbol reflects the relationship between architectural composition and the practical act of building.

A simple gesture. A clear purpose.
